organising the gathering

it's been agreed that everyone wants there to be another gathering this year, & that we should try holding it at queen's birthday weekend to give us an easter break. this means it will be a slightly shorter event, & there have been questions about how the format might change; & whether any international guests could be invited.

the newtown community centre has been booked for 4-7 june 2010, & the trustees are now looking at funding applications. following the networking party on feb 1st, 3 people put their names down to help with the gathering (rose beauchamp, binz speedy & donna beracevic-gora).

what the gathering doesn't have yet is a driver; helen is going overseas again so won't be around to do it. the trustees will try to find funds for a coordinator - but at this stage everyone is very busy so no-one has put their hand up to be the central person.

it will happen - already ideas are being proposed for the programme; funding needed is minimal; we know how to run it because we've done it 3 times now. but we need YOU to get involved to help it to happen!

JUNE 5TH GATHERING

Programme now posted!
If you are having trouble reading it email us and we'll send you a copy.

three one-day gatherings for 2010

at its meeting in february, the trust decided that instead of holding one three-day gathering at queen's birthday weekend, we would have three separate one-day events - the first being the saturday of queen's birthday weekend (june 5) & then one in august & one in october (or something like that).

the reasoning behind this was partly to lessen the organisational burden on the remaining, overcommitted trustees; and also to see whether having separate days makes it easier for more people to attend at least some of the events.

there is some information now online and an online registration form for the first gathering, which is themed "What is Magdalena?". themes proposed for the next days are "inter-generational conversations" and "performance, community and activism".

come along & get involved in the discussions, network with like-minded people and contribute to the shape of the next gatherings.
