The Magdalena Project officially began with a festival in Cardiff, Wales, in August 1986. This year the project celebrates its 35th anniversary, and to mark it, founding director Jill Greenhalgh has organised 35 interviews with key women within the network. Each week during August and September 2021, five interviews are published on the Magdalena Project website.
Magdalena Aotearoa trustees Madeline McNamara and Helen Varley Jamieson are both interviewed – Madeline by Puerto Rico-based New Zealander Deborah Hunt and Helen Varley Jamieson by Christina Papagiannouli who has become involved with the project through Bodies:On:Live, the first online Magdalena festival. There are also many others from the network who have visited Aotearoa: Jill Greenhalgh, Julia Varley, Geddy Aniksdal, Dawn Albinger, Cristina Castrillo and Bruna Gusberti, Jadranka Andjelić, Gilla Cremer and Dijana Milosević.
